How China Care Atlas collects, uses, and protects information.
This Privacy Policy explains what China Care Atlas collects, why we collect it, and how it is used when you visit chinacareatlas.com, read our guides, use planning tools, create an account, or contact us.
China Care Atlas is a planning and research site for people comparing healthcare in China. It is not a hospital, clinic, insurer, or emergency service. That distinction matters for privacy as well as for product scope. A planning site does not need the same level of sensitive medical detail that a treating hospital would require, so our general approach is to collect less rather than more.
We collect information you choose to provide, along with the basic technical data that almost every website needs in order to load, stay secure, and improve over time. We use that information to operate the site, support planning features, respond to users, understand which content is useful, and protect the service from abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not forward your information to hospitals, agencies, or third-party providers unless a specific product flow clearly requires that step or you explicitly request it.
You may give us information when you fill in a planning flow, create an account, send a support message, request a correction, or otherwise interact with the site.
Depending on the feature, that information may include:
Most of this information is used to make the site more relevant to your question. If you say you are flying from Los Angeles and comparing dental care in Shanghai, for example, the site may use that input to estimate flight assumptions, trip timing, and planning steps that fit that route.
Some users type health-related information into the site, such as a symptom, condition, test, or procedure they are exploring. We use that information to support planning features, organize content, and generate planning summaries that are easier to review.
The site is not meant for diagnosis, emergency triage, or formal medical record intake. For that reason, you should avoid submitting more detail than is necessary to use the planning tools. In particular, please do not upload full scans, passport copies, insurance files, or detailed medical records unless a future product flow specifically asks for them and explains why.
If you need medical advice, treatment review, or diagnosis, you should contact a licensed clinician or the relevant hospital directly.
Like most modern websites, we also collect some technical and usage information automatically. This may include your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, language setting, pages viewed, links clicked, referring page, search term, session activity, performance data, and error logs.
We use that information for practical reasons: to keep the site working, understand which pages help users, improve speed and reliability, detect bugs, measure feature usage, and investigate suspicious traffic or abuse.
We may use cookies, local storage, or similar browser technologies to keep sessions working, remember preferences, support analytics, and protect the site. Some site features may not work correctly if these tools are blocked entirely in the browser.
You can usually control cookies through your own browser settings.
We use information for a limited set of operational reasons:
We do not use your health-related input to diagnose you, approve a treatment path, or make a medical decision on your behalf.
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the site, such as hosting, analytics, authentication, email, storage, security, or support vendors. We may also disclose information if required by law, if necessary to protect safety or security, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, restructuring, or similar business event.
Those are operational disclosures, not a sale of user data.
Some pages may link to hospitals, maps, government sites, payment services, travel services, or other third-party websites. Once you leave China Care Atlas, those third parties operate under their own privacy policies and practices. We do not control how they collect or use information on their own sites.
We keep information for as long as it is reasonably needed to operate the site, maintain accounts, respond to requests, improve the product, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse. Different types of information may be kept for different periods depending on how they are used.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no website or cloud system can promise absolute security. That is one reason we encourage users not to submit unnecessary sensitive material through a planning site.
China Care Atlas may be accessed globally, and our infrastructure or service providers may process information in more than one country. By using the site, you understand that information may be processed outside your home jurisdiction, subject to applicable safeguards and operational needs.
Depending on your location and how you use the service, you may be able to:
In some cases, we may need to verify identity before acting on a request, and we may keep certain information where legal, security, or operational obligations require it.
China Care Atlas is not intended for independent use by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children where doing so would require special legal authorization.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the current version will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site after a revision means you accept the updated policy.
